Our flights yesterday were perfect, except for some bumpiness. Minimal waiting, and best of all, on the longer flight, when I had a middle seat, the person with the aisle seat didn't make it, so it actually felt like I had room.
Getting through the airport and to the hotel was easy, too. Too early to check in, so we left our bags with them, got some lunch, and headed for the Metro. Pouring rain. Just so you know it wasn't perfect. We figured out the Metro, with some help, and headed downtown. We found the National Gallery of Art, and decided to concentrate on the East building, which has most of the modern stuff. The first things we saw were some Matisse cutouts. I really liked them, and took a picture with my camera phone (permitted - the guard was giving folks advice on where to stand for the best pictures) so I could post it here. But I forgot that you have to tell the phone to save the picture. Instead, I will post another picture. One that I had already on my camera.
We stopped by the Air and Space museum, which Pam says is the most visited museum of any in the world. I believe it. We didn't stay long, it was so hot and crowded. We were also getting really tired, so we came back to the hotel, figured out tomorrow's schedule, got some dinner, read a bit, then slept.
